The wolf has been much maligned by many people, often misunderstood this wonderful animal seen in the wild continues to be under threat.
Erosion of habitat is part of the story, but unfortunately both livestock owners and hunters continue to persecute and eradicate wolves both in North American states as well as in other countries around the world.
It is understandable that you cannot have wildlife in unmanaged numbers when the humans over population continues to increase unchecked. No control on populations mean that wildlife ever increasingly comes under pressure.
Livestock owners fear the wolf and as they protect their livelyhood unless there is a satisfactory compensation program they will want to take revenge on the wolf, sometimes when it is not even the wolf that commited the attack.
The wolf has been on the endangered species list in North American for some time but politicians sometimes do not view wildlife as a natural situation that needs protection and therefore hunting and poaching also takes it's toll on the wolf as well as the encroachment of their territory.
I do not advocate a situation where wildlife goes unchecked but the wolf has every much right as we do to live on this planet.
A world without wolves would be a sadder place for us all, I for one would miss them.
Within this website there are images of wolves that I have photographed from afar in Yellowstone National Park. The images however on this page are taken in a UK conservancy where we have the opportunity to see them in their suroundings, learning to live together and bringing much enjoyment to people who appreciate them and their behaviour.
I always consider it a pleasure to have the opportunity to be with them.
By sharing the images I try and give back a little part of what they give to me, pleasure.

Hearing wolves howl is one of the most incredible sounds that you can experience from being with or close to wildlife. The howl goes right through you and reminds you how fragile their existence can be if we remove them from our planet.
'When the howl of the lone wolf is unreturned, I will mourn their loss.'
