The world is indeed a strange place, the challenges currently from the Covid-19 present us all with unique perspective into hoe the modern world deals with a pandemic. When we left the UK for this trip to Laos and Cambodia the virus that was to lead to a pandemic was starting to get going in many parts of the world.
For us, we were undertaking this trip to Laos and Cambodia and maybe at a time where there were so few tourists we got a clear glimpse into what would be the immediate future for many of us.
The countries were both fascinating and the money pouring in from overseas investors masks some of the huge differences between the haves and have nots in these countries. We found the people to be hospitable, charming and with a calmness that was not happenign in the Western world whilst we were there. To both countries the virus is yet another challenge in their day to day lives.
The images you will see here are from Laos and Cambodia, amazing temples, pagodas, sunsets and monks feature. The sights and sounds of this part of the world were amazing for us and we were so lucky that we got there just at the right time before the world closed in on us and we returned safe and sound home.
During the trip we were in Vientiane, Vang Vieng Luang Prabang in Laos. Siam Riep and the temples of Angkor WatBattambang and Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Using these as bases we travelled the countryside to see the sights and experience local life and cuisine.
